Del Piero slams Juventus attack after goalless Milan draw

Juventus’ goalless stalemate with AC Milan at the Allianz Stadium may have extended their unbeaten run, but it has also reignited one of the biggest talking points in Turin: where are the goals going to come from? Once known for a ruthless, clinical attack that struck fear across Europe, the Bianconeri now look like a side struggling to find their cutting edge. And nobody summed it up more sharply than Alessandro Del Piero.

The Juventus legend, a man who defined an era in black and white, didn’t hold back. Speaking after the match, Del Piero said bluntly: “There is no suitable player right now.” His words stung but also reflected what every Juve supporter has been feeling – this team can defend, this team can fight, but when it comes to scoring, the answers simply aren’t there.

Juventus’ goalless frustration at the Allianz Stadium

The clash with Milan was supposed to be a marker. Two of Italy’s heavyweights going head-to-head, with Juve looking to lay down a statement under Igor Tudor. Instead, the evening turned into a familiar tale: grit, structure, and defensive stability, but very little to cheer about in the final third.

Adrien Rabiot and Santiago Giménez showed flashes of energy, but nothing materialised. Michele Di Gregorio was forced into a handful of important saves to keep Milan at bay, yet the longer the game went on, the clearer the problem became. Juve’s attacking sequences fizzled out, passes broke down, and when it came to the decisive moment, there was simply no one to deliver the killer blow.

On paper, a point against Milan isn’t disastrous. But in reality, it underlined the deeper issue: Juventus are solid at the back, but alarmingly stagnant going forward.

Del Piero’s verdict on Juve’s lack of firepower

No one understands the demands of leading the line for Juventus better than Del Piero. For years, he was the symbol of the club’s attacking power. That’s why his critique cut so deep.

“Who is best suited to play in attack for Juventus? There isn’t a suitable player right now,” he said on Sky Sports. “Juve has shown they’re strong in other areas, certainly not up front. Those who have started have almost always performed poorly. Vlahovic has done well as a substitute.”

It wasn’t just about individuals. For Del Piero, the problem runs deeper – a lack of identity. “If we analyse the five draws, you can say anything. Three of them came in dramatic fashion, as did the win against Inter. It’s complicated, the blanket is short. If you rotate a lot, you keep everyone on edge and give everyone confidence. But on the other hand, you lose your identity.”

For Juve fans, hearing that word – “identity” – stirs emotions. This is a club built on a clear sense of who they are. Right now, in attack at least, that identity is missing.

Tudor’s lack of clear ideas up front

Igor Tudor has shored things up defensively since stepping in, but Del Piero was clear: up front, the ideas simply aren’t there.

“The team recognises itself in a starting eleven, which is missing today, especially up front,” he said. “Elsewhere, in defense and midfield for example, the ideas are clear. Up front, Tudor still doesn’t
