Ben Whittaker to Face Benjamin Gavazi in WBC Silver Title Showdown

Ben Whittaker to Face Gavazi in Birmingham on 29 November

British star Ben Whittaker will headline his first show under the Matchroom Boxing banner when he takes on Germany’s Benjamin Gavazi in Birmingham on 29 November for the vacant WBC Silver light-heavyweight title.

The bout marks Whittaker’s promotional debut with Eddie Hearn’s stable following his high-profile switch from Boxxer earlier this month.

The undefeated Olympic silver medallist will be fighting in front of his hometown fans at the National Exhibition Centre, looking to make a statement as he climbs the WBC rankings.

WBC Silver Title on the Line

The clash with Gavazi carries major significance, with the winner walking away as the new WBC Silver light-heavyweight champion — a key stepping stone toward a future world title shot.

Whittaker (28), who currently sits at number nine in the WBC rankings, is eyeing a world title opportunity in 2025. The main belt is currently held by David Benavidez, who defends his crown against Anthony Yarde on 22 November in Saudi Arabia.

“Ben Whittaker is the greatest signing any promoter in the world could have made,” said Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn. “He levels up from the get-go in front of his home fans.”

Gavazi on 19-Fight Streak

Benjamin Gavazi heads into the bout riding an impressive 19-fight win streak, having not lost since his professional debut in 2018. The German light-heavyweight will be fighting outside of his home country for only the second time, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the contest.

Co-Main: Vuong vs Gwynne 2 & Molly McCann in Action

The Birmingham card also features a rematch between lightweights Cameron Vuong and Gavin Gwynne, following a close contest earlier this year.

Adding to the excitement, former UFC star Molly McCann will continue her transition into boxing. McCann began her pro boxing career with a victory in Belfast and now looks to build momentum in her second outing.

Birmingham Set for Boxing Showcase

With rising stars, title implications, and a homecoming headliner, Matchroom’s Birmingham show promises fireworks.

Ben Whittaker has the spotlight — and with the WBC Silver title on the line, it could be a launching pad for global glory.
