Van de Ven Double Ends Everton’s Unbeaten Run at New Stadium
Van de Ven Brace Seals Dominant 3-0 Tottenham Win Over Everton
Tottenham Hotspur extended their unbeaten Premier League away run to five games as Micky van de Ven struck twice in the first half to sink Everton and end the Toffees’ perfect record at their new Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Van de Ven at the Double
Spurs captain Micky van de Ven delivered a commanding performance at both ends of the pitch. The Dutch defender opened the scoring by capitalizing on a clever corner routine—Rodrigo Bentancur headed back across goal, allowing Van de Ven to nod in unmarked.
He struck again in first-half stoppage time, rising above Jordan Pickford to power home his second, again from a corner. With Cristian Romero absent, Van de Ven not only wore the armband but took full command of Spurs’ defence and attack.
VAR Denies Everton Momentum
Everton thought they had equalized when Jake O’Brien glanced in a header, but VAR intervened. After a pitchside review, referee Craig Pawson ruled the goal out for offside interference by Jack Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye, both adjudged to have obstructed keeper Guglielmo Vicario.
Sarr Seals It, Richarlison Returns
Former Everton man Richarlison returned to haunt his old club with a fine assist for Pape Matar Sarr, who headed in Tottenham’s third late in the game. Spurs had previously looked laboured in the Champions League against Monaco, but bounced back in style on Merseyside.
Defensive Masterclass from Spurs
Despite 34 crosses delivered by Everton—mostly from Grealish and Ndiaye—Tottenham’s back line, marshalled by Van de Ven and Kevin Danso, remained unshaken. Vicario also played a key role, making several fine saves to secure a clean sheet.
Toffees Lack Cutting Edge
Everton manager David Moyes will be concerned by the lack of a clinical striker. Beto squandered multiple chances, including an ill-advised bicycle kick when a simple finish would’ve sufficed. Thierno Barry, introduced on 65 minutes, failed to offer much more.
The loss marks Everton’s first home defeat at Hill Dickinson Stadium, having gone unbeaten in their first five fixtures since leaving Goodison Park.
