Moses Itauma to Face Jermaine Franklin in Manchester Showdown
Itauma vs Franklin Set for January in Manchester
Rising British heavyweight star Moses Itauma is set to face American veteran Jermaine Franklin in a headline clash on 24 January 2025 at the Co-Op Live Arena in Manchester, as part of Queensberry Promotions’ ‘Magnificent Seven’ boxing showcase.
The fight night will mark Frank Warren’s 45th year in boxing promotion, celebrating with a stacked card featuring top domestic talents.
Unbeaten Prospect vs Proven Veteran
At just 20 years old, Itauma (13-0, 9 KOs) has been touted as one of the UK’s most exciting heavyweight prospects, with nine consecutive stoppage wins, including a first-round demolition of Dillian Whyte in August.
This time, he faces a stern test in Jermaine Franklin (24-2, 15 KOs), a seasoned 32-year-old whose only defeats have come at the hands of Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte — both via decision.
“This might be the best stable of fighters we’ve ever had, and Moses is topping the bill in a perfect test of his credentials,” said promoter Frank Warren.
A Delayed Return, Now Worth the Wait
Originally scheduled to fight on 13 December, Itauma’s return was delayed due to a series of complications, including multiple opponents declining the fight.
The WBA had ordered a bout between Itauma and Kubrat Pulev for the ‘Regular’ heavyweight title, but Pulev opted to face Murat Gassiev on 12 December instead.
The Franklin fight now gives Itauma an opportunity to prove his mettle against an established American heavyweight.
Stacked Undercard in ‘Magnificent Seven’
The co-main event features a British light-heavyweight clash between Scotland’s Willy Hutchinson and England’s Ezra Taylor.
Also on the card is an all-British featherweight showdown between Liam Davies and Zak Miller, promising fireworks for UK boxing fans.
