Wolves 3-0 West Ham: First Win at Last as Hammers Collapse

Wolves secured their first Premier League win of the season at the 20th attempt with a convincing 3-0 triumph over relegation rivals West Ham United at Molineux.

In doing so, they doubled their points tally for the season and provided new boss Rob Edwards with his maiden league victory, while Nuno Espirito Santo’s problems at West Ham intensified.

First-Half Blitz Seals It for Wolves

It took just four minutes for Wolves to open the scoring. Hwang Hee-chan danced past Mavropanos and squared for Jhon Arias, who tapped in from close range for his first Premier League goal.

Just after the half-hour mark, Wolves doubled their lead when Soungoutou Magassa’s high boot caught Mateus Mane, and Hwang calmly converted the resulting penalty.

Mane made it three just before the break with a stunning low strike from outside the box, netting his first senior goal and further highlighting the Hammers’ defensive disarray.

Wolves Analysis: A New Dawn?

The victory was Wolves’ first since April 26, 2025, ending a 23-game winless league streak.

After Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at Old Trafford, signs of life were already showing. This emphatic win against West Ham offers hope that Edwards’ reign might yet steer them clear of infamy.

  • 8 shots on target to 0 tells the full story of Wolves’ dominance.

  • Now on 6 points, they are still bottom, but no longer the laughing stock of the league.

  • Derby County’s infamous 11-point season in 2007-08 is no longer the only trajectory in sight.

Still 12 points adrift of safety, survival remains unlikely—but momentum is finally building.

West Ham Collapse: Nuno on the Brink

For West Ham, this was perhaps the lowest point of a disastrous season. They were lifeless, directionless, and outplayed by a side winless in 19 previous attempts.

  • Zero shots on target.

  • Early defensive errors punished repeatedly.

  • Still winless in 9 games.

  • Remain in 18th with 14 points, four behind Forest.

With no Lucas Paquetá, creativity was lacking. Nuno’s attempts to adapt with a 3-5-2 system in the second half had little impact, and Wolves fans even mocked their former boss with chants from the stands.

“It was embarrassing,” Nuno admitted post-match. “We need to reflect and realise the situation we are in.”
