Alex Marquez Ends Bezzecchi Streak with Spanish GP Victory
Alex Marquez produced a commanding display to win the Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez and bring Marco Bezzecchi’s five-race MotoGP winning streak to an end.
The Ducati-Gresini rider, who celebrated his 30th birthday earlier this week, delivered a flawless race in front of home supporters to secure his second MotoGP victory at the famous Spanish circuit. Marquez crossed the line 1.903 seconds ahead of Aprilia rider Bezzecchi, while Fabio di Giannantonio completed the podium in third place.
Starting from fifth on the grid, Alex Marquez wasted no time moving through the field. He made his decisive move at the start of lap two, diving inside pole-sitter Marc Marquez at Turn Six to seize the lead.

The race took another dramatic twist moments later when Marc Marquez lost control of his Ducati and crashed out just five corners after surrendering first position. That incident ended the six-time premier class champion’s hopes of following up his sprint race victory from Saturday.
From there, Alex Marquez controlled the pace and never looked under serious threat. His consistency and strong rhythm throughout the race ensured a comfortable win despite pressure from Bezzecchi in the closing stages.
Bezzecchi’s second-place finish still helped the Italian strengthen his advantage in the MotoGP riders’ standings. He now leads Jorge Martin by 11 points, with Di Giannantonio climbing to third overall. Marc Marquez dropped further back and now sits 44 points off the championship lead in fifth.
For Alex Marquez, the result marked a major turnaround after a difficult start to the campaign. Prior to Jerez, his best finish of the season had been sixth place.
Speaking after the race, Marquez said:
“We struggled a lot at the beginning of the year. Today, it was clear – go from the first lap, pushing, trying to take the lead. From that moment, I knew that the rhythm was really good until the end.”
The victory gives Marquez fresh momentum heading into the next round and sends a clear message that he is ready to challenge at the front again in the 2026 MotoGP season.
