West Ham Sign Kyle Walker-Peters on Free Transfer
West Ham have completed the signing of Kyle Walker-Peters on a free transfer, with the former Southampton defender agreeing a three-year deal at the London Stadium.
The 28-year-old, who has two England caps, left Southampton after their relegation from the Premier League last season and was a target for Besiktas before West Ham swooped in.
“He is a player I’ve always thought highly of and been impressed by whenever he has faced one of my teams,” said West Ham boss Graham Potter.
“He has a really good pedigree, is a top professional and still has his best years ahead of him.”
Why Walker-Peters Chose West Ham
The full-back admitted Potter’s influence was key to his decision to join the Hammers:
“I spoke to Graham Potter and he was a big, big part of me making the decision,” Walker-Peters said.
“I’ve always liked his style as a coach, and I think it will suit me well. Every team wants to win trophies and West Ham have that ambition. Hopefully, I can be a part of that.”
Walker-Peters started his career at Tottenham Hotspur, making 24 appearances before moving to Southampton on loan in January 2020, later completing a permanent switch. He played 202 games for Saints, scoring five goals and providing 14 assists.
