Nascar Star Connor Zilisch Breaks Collarbone in Victory Celebration

Zilisch Injured in Unusual Post-Race Incident

Nascar Xfinity Series points leader Connor Zilisch has suffered a broken collarbone after a freak accident while celebrating his latest victory.

The 19-year-old won his sixth race of the season at Watkins Glen, but slipped on the window net of his Chevrolet while climbing onto the roof in Victory Lane, falling onto the concrete.

Medical Update and Hospital Evaluation

Zilisch was taken to the circuit’s care centre and described as “awake and alert” before being transported to hospital for further evaluation.

Posting on X (formerly Twitter), Zilisch confirmed that head and neck scans were clear, but he had broken his collarbone.

A Dominant Rookie Campaign

The American has been a standout in his rookie Xfinity season, winning five of his last eight races and surviving a dramatic 16-car crash late in Saturday’s race to take the win.

Earlier this year, Zilisch missed a race due to a back injury sustained at Talladega in June, but bounced back with a string of dominant performances.

Impact on Upcoming Races

No official return date has been set by Zilisch or JR Motorsports, the team owned by Dale Earnhardt Jr. The Xfinity Series play-offs begin at Portland on 31 August.

Zilisch was also scheduled to make his fourth Cup Series start on Sunday at Watkins Glen, but will now miss the race due to injury.
