Everton Sign Jack Grealish on Season-Long Loan from Man City

Jack Grealish Joins Everton on Loan from Manchester City

Everton have completed the season-long loan signing of Jack Grealish from Manchester City, with the England winger declaring there was “only one place” he wanted to go after talks with manager David Moyes.

The 29-year-old becomes Everton’s sixth summer signing, following Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Charly Alcaraz, Thierno Barry, Mark Travers and Adam Aznou.

“I’m over the moon to have signed for Everton,” Grealish told club media. “This is a great club, with great fans. The messages I’ve had from supporters have been incredible – I hope I can repay that support on the pitch.”

A Fresh Start After Frustrating Season at City

Grealish joined Manchester City from Aston Villa in 2021 for a then-British record £100m fee and went on to win:

  • 3 Premier League titles

  • 1 Champions League

  • 1 FA Cup

However, last season saw him fall out of favour, starting just seven Premier League games and missing out on the Club World Cup squad.

The move to Everton offers him a chance to revive his form and stake a claim for an England recall ahead of future international tournaments.

Number 18 Tribute to Rooney & Gascoigne

Grealish will wear the number 18 shirt, in homage to two of his all-time favourites – Wayne Rooney and Paul Gascoigne.

“As soon as I knew this deal was close, I checked if 18 was free – it was the only number I was going to take. I even spoke to Wayne about it,” Grealish said.

Where Will Grealish Play at Everton?

Moyes’ preferred 4-2-3-1 system could see Grealish deployed:

  • On the left wing – his most natural position, where he played 80% of minutes at Man City

  • As a number 10 – to reduce competition with left-sided options Iliman Ndiaye and Dwight McNeil

However, Everton’s lack of a natural right winger may force tactical adjustments, with Grealish’s defensive work rate potentially tested if he plays centrally.
