Alexander Isak Still Determined to Force Liverpool Move from Newcastle

Isak Pushes for Liverpool Transfer as Newcastle Stance Tested

Alexander Isak is still determined to leave Newcastle United and seal a summer move to Premier League champions Liverpool, despite the Magpies rejecting a £110m bid earlier this month.

The Athletic reported the 25-year-old striker is “adamant” he will never play for Newcastle again. While BBC Sport has not confirmed that claim, it is understood that joining Liverpool remains Isak’s clear ambition before the 1 September transfer deadline.

Newcastle Reject Record Bid but Future Uncertain

Liverpool’s huge offer for Isak was turned down on 1 August, with the Reds initially suggesting they might walk away from the deal. However, the Anfield club remain active in the market, also stepping up their pursuit of Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has admitted that “everything is in play” regarding Isak’s future, but stressed that he “cannot involve” the Sweden international in his current plans. As a result, Isak is expected to miss the Magpies’ Premier League opener at Aston Villa on Saturday.

Striker Situation and Transfer Dominoes

Isak missed Newcastle’s pre-season tour of the Far East with a minor thigh injury, trained alone at former club Real Sociedad, and only returned to the UK last week.

The prolific forward, who netted 27 goals in 42 appearances last season, still has three years remaining on his contract.

Newcastle’s hunt for a new striker has so far been frustrating, with Liam Delap joining Chelsea, Benjamin Sesko opting for Manchester United, and Hugo Ekitike signing for Liverpool.

The Magpies retain interest in Brentford’s Yoane Wissa, who remains keen on a move to St James’ Park, and are also closing in on AC Milan defender Malick Thiaw in a £34.62m deal.
