Bayern’s Musiala Says ‘No-One to Blame’ After Broken Leg Injury
Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala says “there’s no-one to blame” for the broken leg and dislocated ankle he suffered during their Club World Cup semi-final defeat to Paris St-Germain last week.
The 22-year-old Germany international was injured in the first half after a collision with PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma while chasing down a ball near the byline.
Musiala was taken to hospital for assessment before flying back to Munich for surgery on Monday. He is expected to be out for “the next few months,” Bayern confirmed.
🗣️ “I think situations like this happen and now I’m just going to use the next period of time to build up my strength and positivity again,” Musiala said in a video posted on Instagram.
“The surgery went really well, I’m in good care and I wanted to say there’s no-one to blame for this.”
Donnarumma and Players Visibly Shaken
Musiala cried out in pain following the challenge, while Donnarumma and several other players were visibly distressed at the incident.
The Bayern star began his rehabilitation on Tuesday as he starts the long road back to full fitness.
Key Role in Bayern’s Success
Musiala was a standout performer last season, scoring 21 goals and providing eight assists in all competitions as Bayern clinched the Bundesliga title.
His absence will be a huge blow to both Bayern and Germany ahead of the new season and international fixtures.
