DeChambeau Ties Lead at LIV Adelaide After Topping Drive

Bryson DeChambeau and home favourite Marc Leishman share the lead at LIV Golf Adelaide after carding impressive six-under-par 66s in the opening round at Grange Golf Club.

DeChambeau, a two-time US Open champion, recovered from an embarrassing topped drive on the 10th tee — which struck the cart path but still landed in play — to birdie the hole and finish with seven birdies and one bogey.

“It was a perfect strike… right into the tee box,” joked DeChambeau.

“Got to make sure I don’t hit it with too negative an attack angle next time.”

Despite the miscue, DeChambeau delivered a strong finish, gaining four shots on the back nine.

Leishman Impresses on Home Soil

Marc Leishman, LIV’s Miami champion in 2023, opened with six birdies and no bogeys to match DeChambeau at the top of the leaderboard. The Australian is aiming for his second LIV title, cheered on by the local crowd.
