Raducanu on Stalking Ordeal: “It Could Have Been Handled Better”

British Star Reflects on Incident Ahead of Indian Wells Return

Emma Raducanu has spoken publicly for the first time about her stalking ordeal, admitting that the situation “could have been dealt with better”, but believes lessons have already been learned.

The 22-year-old Brit endured weeks of distress after being followed to four different tournaments by the same man. The issue escalated at the Dubai Tennis Championships, where Raducanu saw the individual in the stands during her second-round match.

Security removed him, and police later issued a restraining order.

“A Very Emotional Few Weeks”

Raducanu:
“It was tiring. I took a week off at home, then decided to come here [Indian Wells].”

Key Incident Details:

  • Man followed Raducanu at tournaments in Singapore, Abu Dhabi, Doha & Dubai
  • Approached her in Dubai, took photos, and handed her a letter
  • Security alert was delayed, leaving only hours to prepare

Despite the ordeal, Raducanu will not hire private security but is now taking increased precautions:
“I’m always with someone now and being more aware of my surroundings.”
