Anthony Joshua Injured in Fatal Car Crash in Nigeria That Killed Two Team Members
Former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua was injured in a tragic road accident in Nigeria, which claimed the lives of his close team members and friends — Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele.
Tragic Accident on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway
The crash occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, north-east of Lagos. Local authorities confirmed that the vehicle carrying Joshua collided with a stationary truck during an overtaking maneuver. According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the car — a Lexus SUV — was suspected to be travelling over the speed limit.
Of the five occupants, two died on the scene, two were unhurt, and Joshua was rescued with minor injuries. He was seen grimacing in pain as he was helped from the wreckage in widely circulated videos. In another video, he gave a thumbs up from inside the car, reassuring worried onlookers.
