Inter Appoint Cristian Chivu as Manager Until 2027

Inter Milan Appoint Cristian Chivu as Head Coach

Cristian Chivu has been confirmed as the new Inter Milan manager, taking over from Simone Inzaghi after the club’s 5-0 Champions League final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.

The 44-year-old Romanian, a former Inter defender and academy coach, arrives from Parma, where he managed just 13 matches, winning three, and helped secure Serie A safety in his short tenure.

Chivu has signed a deal running until 2027, marking his first top-flight managerial appointment.

Chivu’s Inter Return

Having played for Inter between 2007 and 2014, winning three Serie A titles and the 2009–10 UEFA Champions League, Chivu remains a revered figure at the club. He later transitioned into coaching, developing through the Nerazzurri’s youth system.

“Cristian has gone through experiences and challenges of enormous importance, events that have shaped him as a man and a professional, binding him inextricably to the black and blue colours,” Inter stated in their official announcement.

Filling Inzaghi’s Shoes

Chivu succeeds Simone Inzaghi, who left the club following the heavy defeat to PSG and is now in charge of Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia. Inzaghi led Inter to two Coppa Italia titles and back-to-back Champions League finals, but fell short of European glory.

Immediate Challenge: Club World Cup

Chivu’s first major task comes quickly, as he prepares to lead Inter at the expanded Club World Cup in the United States. Inter kick off their campaign on 17 June against Mexican side Monterrey.

This appointment signals a bold shift from experience to potential, as Inter look to build long-term success under one of their own.
