Raphinha Double Fires Barcelona to Seven-Point Lead in La Liga
Raphinha Shines as Barcelona Beat Osasuna 2-0
Barcelona extended their winning streak and climbed seven points clear at the top of La Liga with a 2-0 home victory over Osasuna, thanks to a second-half brace from Raphinha.
The Catalans were dominant throughout, registering 21 shots to Osasuna’s 3, but struggled to break the deadlock until the 70th minute.
Raphinha Delivers When It Counts
Raphinha was the difference-maker at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, breaking through Osasuna’s compact defense with a low strike into the bottom corner from the edge of the box. He sealed the win in the 86th minute with a tap-in after a fortunate deflection.
The Brazilian forward has now proven crucial in Barcelona’s title push, stepping up as key players rotate during the busy schedule.
VAR Denies Ferran Torres
Barcelona thought they had opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when Ferran Torres headed in a Marcus Rashford cross. However, VAR ruled the goal out due to Raphinha’s heel being marginally offside during the build-up on a short-corner routine.
Moments later, Torres came close again after meeting a Lamine Yamal cross, but his effort flew over the bar.
Osasuna Threaten, But Barca Stay Solid
Osasuna defended deep and looked to hit on the break. Their best chance came early in the second half when Victor Munoz raced past Alejandro Balde but fired wide with only the keeper to beat.
Barcelona’s midfield control and high pressing eventually paid off, especially through Pedri’s drive, which set up Raphinha’s opener.
League Standings Update
Just seven weeks ago, Barcelona were five points behind Real Madrid following an El Clasico defeat. After seven straight La Liga wins, they now sit seven points ahead.
However, Real Madrid have the opportunity to cut the gap to four points with a win over Alaves on Sunday.
