Shock on Millionaire Row: Boat Crashes Into Former Spurs Boss Harry Redknapp Garden
Former Spurs manager Harry Redknapp left stunned after dramatic boat incident at £7m dream home
When you think of Harry Redknapp these days, you imagine the semi-retired football legend enjoying life in the comfort of his dream home along the south coast. But the former Spurs, Portsmouth and West Ham boss got more than he bargained for this past weekend when a 50-foot racing boat crashed into the garden of his luxurious £7 million Sandbanks mansion.
Yes, you read that correctly. A boat. In the garden.
Redknapp’s waterside dream takes an unexpected turn
Harry Redknapp, a familiar face in English football dugouts and television screens alike, had only recently set about building what has been described as his “dream home” in one of the UK’s most exclusive postcodes. Located on the north shore of the iconic “Millionaire’s Row” in Sandbanks, Dorset, the Redknapps’ luxury property boasts a private jetty and garden that gently spills into Poole Harbour — the kind of place you imagine sipping a morning coffee while watching sailboats glide by.
Instead, Harry woke up to something out of a maritime sitcom.
A £25,000 racing trimaran named Three Cheers, caught in heavy winds and with no engine running at the time, was swept clean off course and ended up wedged under the pontoon at the end of Redknapp’s garden. That’s not exactly what you’d expect when building your perfect waterside retreat.
The crash: What happened?

The bizarre incident occurred on July 14, as the three-hulled vessel tried to navigate through Poole Harbour. Without engine power, the boat struggled in the blustery conditions and eventually drifted uncontrollably toward the shoreline — straight into Redknapp’s freshly landscaped garden.
A statement from Poole Lifeboat provided more clarity on the situation:
“A 50ft trimaran was passing through Poole Harbour on passage. With no engine at the time, it got into difficulty and ended up aground and wedged under a jetty near North Haven Point. The lifeboat volunteers were swiftly on scene and found that the casualties were all ashore, safe and well and did not require assistance.”
Thankfully, none of the four passengers on board were injured, and all made it ashore without requiring medical help. For Harry and Sandra, it must’ve been a surreal sight — especially since their new home was supposed to represent peace and relaxation after years in the managerial trenches.
A surreal moment for the former Spurs manager
While Redknapp has faced plenty of challenges in his career — from Premier League relegation battles to court appearances and media maelstroms — it’s unlikely he ever expected to deal with a rogue racing boat ramming into his property.
He reportedly watched on, stunned, as the boat came crashing into his garden, getting lodged beneath his pontoon. With the couple still in the midst of finalising construction on their lavish new abode, the incident no doubt added an unexpected line item to the builder’s punch list.
Local reports suggest that the damage to the property was minor, though no doubt frustrating. The pontoon — which gives Redknapp direct access to the harbour — bore the brunt of the impact.
Millionaire’s Row: Where luxury meets unpredictability
Sandbanks, known affectionately as “Millionaire’s Row”, is often dubbed the “Palm Beach of Britain”. With stunning waterside views, private docks and jaw-dropping house prices, it’s long been a haven for the wealthy and famous. Redknapp, who has spoken fondly about the area in countless interviews, is one of its most recognisable residents.
He and wife Sandra purchased the plot some time ago and tore down the previous home to construct a bespoke, luxury dwelling tailored to their retirement lifestyle. It’s clear this place holds enormous sentimental value for the couple — so having a boat crash into it before they even move in fully was probably not on their checklist.
Poole Lifeboat crew praised for quick response
Though the situation had the hallmarks of a comedy skit, credit must go to the Poole Lifeboat crew for their swift response. Upon arrival, they ensured that everyone on board was safe and that no further danger was posed to people, property or other vessels.
Redknapp’s neighbours — many of whom are similarly high-profile or well-heeled — also watched with bemusement as the scene unfolded. While the boat was later removed and secured safely, its unexpected appearance gave the entire cul-de-sac quite a talking point.
Harry Redknapp: From football touchlines to home mishaps
This isn’t the first time Redknapp has made headlines away from football. Whether it’s jungle adventures on I’m a Celebrity, or tales of his famously confusing car boot full of cash in court, the veteran manager has always had a way of capturing attention.
Still, one has to imagine that even by Harry’s colourful standards, a rogue racing boat crashing into his garden is a first.
And while the couple may have to oversee some minor repairs, it’s unlikely this one-off accident will dampen their excitement for the new home. If anything, it’ll probably be the start of a very interesting chapter in their Sandbanks story.
A happy ending, all things considered
Ultimately, no one was hurt, and the property damage appears limited. The boat, Three Cheers, was safely removed. The Redknapps, ever the good sports, are said to have taken the incident in stride. Knowing Harry, he’ll probably turn the whole episode into an anecdote the next time he’s asked about life after football.
For now, though, Sandbanks can breathe easy — the waters have calmed, the boat’s been towed, and Harry Redknapp’s dream home is back on track. Just maybe with a slightly stronger jetty.
