Van Dijk: “Something Lacking” as Liverpool Held Again at Anfield
Van Dijk: “Frustration in My Head” After More Dropped Points
Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk voiced his growing concerns after the Reds were held to a fourth consecutive Premier League draw, this time a 1-1 result against Burnley at Anfield.
Despite taking a first-half lead through Florian Wirtz, following Dominik Szoboszlai’s missed penalty, Liverpool failed to hold on as Marcus Edwards struck a second-half equaliser for the Clarets.
“Frustration is the word which is definitely in my head,” said Van Dijk post-match.
“After 60 minutes, we started to become sloppy. It’s not the first time. We have to address that. Apparently, we need to talk about it again.”
Anfield Booed as Liverpool’s Home Form Against Promoted Teams Falters

Wasteful Liverpool miss penalty in draw against Burnley
Saturday’s result means Liverpool have failed to beat any of the promoted sides at Anfield for the first time since the 1980-81 season. The home crowd voiced their displeasure, with boos ringing out at full-time.
“I don’t like boos from my own fans,” Van Dijk admitted.
“I’d say there is something lacking at the moment and we want to change that.”
The draw leaves Liverpool seven points behind third-placed Aston Villa, who still have a game in hand, further denting the Reds’ hopes of keeping pace in the title race.
Eyes on Europe: De Zerbi’s Marseille Await in Champions League
Liverpool now turn their attention to a crucial Champions League clash with Marseille on Wednesday, with a spot in the top eight at stake.
“It will be a very difficult game,” Van Dijk said. “Not only because of the atmosphere but it’s against a De Zerbi team who make it very difficult for you.”
Liverpool sit ninth in the group standings, and failure to finish in the top eight would mean facing an extra play-off round before the round of 16.
Salah Returns After Afcon Exit
One major boost for Jurgen Klopp’s side is the return of Mohamed Salah, after Egypt’s Afcon third-place penalty loss to Nigeria.
“Everyone should look forward to that,” Van Dijk said.
“Mo is a very important member of our squad on and off the pitch. With his quality, he can win games and help us get results.”
