Everton Complete £28m Deal for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

Everton have signed midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Chelsea in a deal worth around £28m, with £24m paid upfront and a further £3-4m in add-ons.

The 26-year-old, who has penned a five-year contract until June 2030, becomes Everton’s fifth summer signing after Charly Alcaraz, Thierno Barry, Mark Travers, and Adam Aznou.

“I’m honestly very excited, my family’s excited. There’s a real buzz about this. It feels right for me,” said Dewsbury-Hall. “It gives me the motivation and extra determination to prove a point and have a really successful time here.”

Why Chelsea Let Him Go

Dewsbury-Hall adapted well to Enzo Maresca’s system at Chelsea but struggled for regular Premier League starts, competing with Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia, and Enzo Fernandez.

  • Premier League 2024-25: 2 starts, 256 minutes in 13 appearances.

  • Conference League 2024-25: 4 goals, including key contributions in the final stages.

  • Club World Cup: 1 goal in a 4-1 win over Benfica, substitute appearance in the 3-0 final win over PSG.

His sale is part of Chelsea’s need to generate a positive transfer balance to comply with UEFA financial control rules and register new signings for the Champions League.

Why Everton Wanted Him

Manager David Moyes has been searching for midfield reinforcements to replace the attacking influence of Abdoulaye Doucoure. Dewsbury-Hall’s record during Leicester’s 2023-24 Championship-winning season stood out:

  • 12 goals & 14 assists – a combined 26 goal contributions.

  • One of the best midfield scoring seasons in the last decade of the Championship.

  • Proven box-to-box ability, offering both creativity and work rate.

His signing adds depth, creativity, and goal-scoring potential from central areas, providing balance alongside more defensive midfield options.
