Hull Cards Best Round as Thitikul Extends Lead at Women’s PGA Championship
Charley Hull delivered the lowest second-round score at the 2025 Women’s PGA Championship, keeping her tournament hopes alive on a challenging day at Fields Ranch East in Texas.
Hull, who opened with a disappointing 78, bounced back with a three-under 69, the only round under 70 on Friday. Her score included four birdies and a single bogey, helping her climb to three over par for the tournament.
“It was tough out there with the wind and heat, but I stuck to my plan and managed to keep the mistakes minimal,” said Hull after her round.
Thitikul Holds the Lead
At the top of the leaderboard, Thailand’s Jeeno Thitikul extended her lead to six under par following a steady two-under 70. Despite swirling winds and difficult rough, the world number two stayed composed, carding four birdies and two bogeys.
“Par is a big key here,” Thitikul said. “The wind and rough made it really tricky, so I just tried to hit better tee shots and avoid big mistakes.”
Chasing Pack
Three shots behind Thitikul are Rio Takeda (Japan) and Minjee Lee (Australia), both sitting on three under. Takeda posted a solid 71, while Lee battled for an even-par 72.
American Lexi Thompson is close behind at two under, after shooting a composed 70.
“It was blowing more than yesterday,” Thompson said. “You just have to commit to your lines and try to limit the damage.”
Big Names Struggle
World number one Nelly Korda remains in contention but struggled to a 74, dropping her to two over par. Ireland’s Leona Maguire is also at +2, matching Korda’s round with a similar scorecard of two birdies and four bogeys.
Defending champion Amy Yang (South Korea) failed to make the cut after rounds of 76 and 77, finishing at nine over par.
