Tudor Calls Spurs Relegation Battle Toughest Yet
Tudor: Spurs Relegation Fight Toughest of My Career
Igor Tudor admits keeping Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League is the toughest challenge of his managerial career.
Spurs are 16th in the table with 29 points, just four above the relegation zone, following a heavy 4-1 defeat to rivals Arsenal in the north London derby.
With 11 matches remaining, Tudor described the situation in dramatic sporting terms.
“Probably, yes,” he said when asked if this was his biggest rescue job.
“If I recognise the difficulties there are, probably yes.”
A “Life or Death” Run-In
Tottenham have not won a league game since 28 December and have managed just two home victories all season at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Upcoming fixtures include:
-
Away trips to Fulham and bottom side Wolverhampton Wanderers
-
Home games against Crystal Palace, Brighton & Hove Albion, Nottingham Forest and Leeds United
Reports suggest relegation could cost Spurs around £260m in annual revenue — a catastrophic financial blow for a club of their stature.
Tudor acknowledged the scale of the task.
“Now it’s a question of life and death, sportingly,” he said.
“You need to be smart… maybe not thinking about style now, but how to take the points.”
Injuries and Identity Crisis
Spurs were without 11 players at the weekend, compounding their struggles. Tudor, appointed after Thomas Frank’s departure, faces both tactical and psychological challenges.
The Croatian — who has managed Juventus, Lazio, Marseille, Galatasaray and Udinese — emphasised daily focus and mental strength.
“Physical condition, mental condition, performance… we need to focus on what we can control.”
The immediate priority is survival. Style can wait.
Pressure Mounting in North London
For a club that has spent almost its entire modern history in the top flight, relegation would be unthinkable.
Since 1950, Tottenham have spent only one season outside the top division (1977-78). Yet current form — the worst in the league bar Wolves — suggests the threat is real.
With confidence fragile and margins razor-thin, Tudor’s leadership over the next two months could define both his tenure and Spurs’ financial future.
