Inzaghi Leaves Inter Milan by Mutual Agreement After PSG Thrashing

Departure Follows 5-0 Champions League Final Loss to PSG

Simone Inzaghi has officially stepped down as Inter Milan manager by mutual agreement, ending a trophy-laden four-year tenure just days after a humiliating 5-0 Champions League final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.

The 49-year-old Italian tactician had been in charge of the Nerazzurri since 2021, winning six major trophies, including the 2022-23 Serie A title.

Linked with Al-Hilal Move

Inzaghi is now heavily tipped to take over at Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal, who are also set to feature in this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.

“The time has come for me to say goodbye to this club after a four-year journey, during which I gave everything,” said Inzaghi in a heartfelt farewell message.

“I want to dedicate one last word to the millions of Nerazzurri fans… I will never forget you.”

Mutual Respect at the End of the Road

The announcement followed a meeting on Tuesday between Inzaghi and club officials.

“Only when we have fought together to achieve success day by day, can we have a frank dialogue like the one that happened,” said Inter president Giuseppe Marotta, thanking Inzaghi for his passion and transparency.

In a club statement, Inter said:

“The club and Simone Inzaghi are parting ways. This is the decision taken by mutual agreement.”

Champions League Highs and Lows

Inzaghi guided Inter to back-to-back Champions League finals, losing narrowly 1-0 to Manchester City in 2023, and then suffering a record-breaking 5-0 defeat to PSG in the 2025 final — a result that ultimately sealed his fate.

Inter also narrowly missed out on the 2024-25 Serie A title, finishing just one point behind Napoli.

Six Trophies in Four Years

Inzaghi’s haul includes:

  • 1x Serie A title

  • 2x Coppa Italia

  • 3x Supercoppa Italiana

Despite the painful end, Inzaghi leaves as one of the club’s most successful coaches of the modern era, having brought domestic dominance and continental consistency.
