Morata Slams Galatasaray as Loan Ends Early, Joins Como
Morata Criticises Galatasaray After Early Loan Termination
Spain captain Alvaro Morata has accused Galatasaray of failing to honour key commitments after his loan spell from AC Milan was cut short.
The 32-year-old striker joined the Turkish Super Lig champions in February with an £8.6m option to buy, but his contract was mutually terminated earlier this week.
Morata has now moved to Serie A side Como, managed by former Chelsea team-mate Cesc Fabregas, on a season-long loan with an obligation to buy.
Financial Dispute and Broken Promises
In a statement, Galatasaray confirmed Milan will pay £4.3m as a termination fee, while Morata has waived £562,982 in receivables.
However, the Spanish forward claims the figure is inaccurate and says he was forced to give up part of his salary and other contractual rights to secure his exit.
“Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about my experience with the club,” Morata wrote on Instagram after thanking fans for their support.
“There were moments when the given word and respect for fundamental values were not upheld.
Failing to recognise and compensate what has been earned is unacceptable and against the values of fairness and professionalism I believe in.”
From Milan to Como
Morata joined Milan from Atletico Madrid last summer on a four-year deal, before being loaned to Galatasaray until January 2026.
Como, who finished 10th in Serie A last season in their first top-flight campaign in 21 years, now have the striker as part of an ambitious project.
“Playing against them, I could see the ambition in the team and the project,” Morata said.
“I promise to give 200% in every training session and match. I can’t wait to wear this shirt.”
BBC Sport has contacted Galatasaray for a response to Morata’s claims.
