Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has strongly dismissed suggestions that Cole Palmer is unsettled, insisting the England international is “very, very happy” at Stamford Bridge despite ongoing transfer speculation.

The 23-year-old forward, who joined the Blues from Manchester City for £42.5m in 2023, has reportedly been struggling with homesickness and missing life in the north – leading to rumours linking him to Manchester United, the club he supported as a boy.

However, Rosenior made it clear on Friday that Palmer remains committed to Chelsea’s project.

“I’ve had numerous conversations with Cole and he seems, and is, very, very happy to be here,” said the Blues boss.

“He is a huge part of our long-term plans. He’s an outstanding player.”

Frustration Over Fitness – Not the Club

Palmer has endured a challenging season with injuries, most recently a groin issue that has impacted his form. His muted reaction after scoring a penalty against Brentford, followed by a swift exit down the tunnel, further fueled rumours of discontent.

But Rosenior clarified the situation:

“There was frustration in the Brentford game – not because he isn’t happy here, but because he couldn’t perform at the level he wants to for the club,” he explained.

“My job, and the club’s job, is to get him performing consistently at the level he wants to.”

Contracted Until 2033 – Long-Term Vision

Palmer, who signed a two-year contract extension in August 2024, is now tied to the club until 2033, making him one of the cornerstones of Chelsea’s long-term strategy.

Despite limited involvement in midweek due to a minor thigh injury, he remains a crucial figure in the squad. The club will assess his availability ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Crystal Palace.

Injury Updates: Jorgensen and Essugo

Rosenior also provided updates on other squad members:

• Filip Jorgensen, Chelsea’s backup goalkeeper, will miss the Palace game but could return for Wednesday’s Champions League tie at Napoli.

• Dario Essugo suffered a training ground slip and will be out for over a month with a muscle injury.
