Premier League to Pay Tribute to Diogo Jota and Brother Andre Silva

The Premier League will honour the memory of former Liverpool and Wolves forward Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva with tributes across all matches this weekend.

Clubs will observe a minute’s silence, while players will wear black armbands. Stadium big screens will display messages and images celebrating the lives of the brothers, who tragically died in a car crash in northern Spain last month.

Tributes Already Paid at Community Shield

Jota, aged 28, and Silva, aged 25, were remembered before Liverpool’s Community Shield clash with Crystal Palace at Wembley last Sunday.

Liverpool legend Ian Rush, Palace chairman Steve Parish and FA chair Debbie Hewitt laid wreaths at the Liverpool end, while fans sang an emotional rendition of You’ll Never Walk Alone.

The minute’s silence was cut short after noise from the Palace section, which Liverpool manager Arne Slot later suggested was unintentional.

Further Tributes Planned

Liverpool and Wolves will hold special commemorations during their Premier League openers against Bournemouth and Manchester City respectively this weekend.

The league-wide gesture reflects Jota’s impact on English football, having scored key goals for both clubs and built a reputation as a dedicated, skilful forward.
