Brennan Johnson Agrees £35m Transfer to Crystal Palace
Brennan Johnson Agrees to Join Crystal Palace in £35m Transfer Deal
Brennan Johnson is set to become Crystal Palace’s latest high-profile signing after agreeing to a £35m move from Tottenham Hotspur, with medical checks scheduled to be completed by Friday.
The 24-year-old Wales international is now on the verge of finalising the switch, just in time to be included in Palace’s squad to face Newcastle United on Sunday.
Talks with Glasner Sealed the Deal
Johnson met with Palace boss Oliver Glasner and senior club figures on Thursday to hold decisive talks over the move.
According to BBC Sport, those discussions proved successful, with Johnson convinced by the club’s vision, his role in the system, and the opportunity for regular Premier League minutes.
From Spurs Star to Selhurst Park Exit
Johnson was Tottenham’s top scorer last season with 18 goals, including a historic winner in the Europa League final against Manchester United in Bilbao, ending Spurs’ 17-year trophy drought.
Despite his standout performances, the arrival of manager Thomas Frank shifted the club’s strategy. Johnson has made just six Premier League starts this season and has not scored in the league since the opening weeks of the campaign.
Tottenham’s openness to a sale was first reported by BBC Sport last month, and Palace quickly made him their number one January transfer target.
Palace’s January Ambition
Crystal Palace, aiming to strengthen their attacking options and climb the Premier League table, acted decisively once they reached a fee agreement with Spurs earlier in the week.
The Eagles beat interest from other top-flight clubs including Bournemouth, who viewed Johnson as a potential replacement for Antoine Semenyo amid his own links to Manchester City.
