Chelsea Agree £70.5m Bayern Deal for Jackson, Sign Buonanotte
Chelsea Seal £70.5m Jackson Exit to Bayern, Sign Buonanotte on Loan
Chelsea have completed a major outgoing transfer, agreeing a £70.5m deal with Bayern Munich for striker Nicolas Jackson, while bringing in Facundo Buonanotte from Brighton on a season-long loan.
After a chaotic weekend that saw Liam Delap injured, the Blues initially blocked Jackson’s loan but returned to the table to negotiate a £14.3m loan with a £56.2m obligation to buy, triggered by minimum appearances.
Jackson, 24, scored 30 goals in 81 games since joining Chelsea from Villarreal for £32m in 2023 but lost the trust of Enzo Maresca following repeated red cards and form issues.
Striker Shake-Up at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea’s attacking plans pivoted rapidly:
-
Jackson out to Bayern Munich with a five-year deal agreed.
-
Conrad Harder, a top target, chose RB Leipzig instead.
-
Marc Guiu, 19, recalled from Sunderland to cover Delap’s absence.
-
Joao Pedro now expected to lead the line.
Jackson could face Chelsea on 17 September in the Champions League in Munich, as UEFA allows loanees to play against parent clubs.
Buonanotte Joins for £2m Loan Fee
The club also completed a £2m loan deal for Facundo Buonanotte, hijacking Leeds United’s bid for the Brighton winger.
The 20-year-old Argentinian, who made 6 goals and 3 assists during his Leicester loan spell last season, reunites with several ex-Brighton staff at Chelsea, including Paul Winstanley and Sam Jewell.
Other Chelsea Moves
-
Fermin Lopez (Barcelona) was the initial target before the striker reshuffle.
-
Alejandro Garnacho joined earlier in the window from Manchester United for £40m.
-
Julio Enciso is close to joining Chelsea’s partner club Strasbourg for £13.8m and is expected to eventually feature for Chelsea.
