Glasner in Palace Deal Talks, But Wants ‘Right Conditions’ to Stay
Crystal Palace are engaged in early discussions with manager Oliver Glasner regarding a contract extension, but the Austrian boss is holding out for the “right conditions” before committing to his long-term future at Selhurst Park.
The 51-year-old is currently in the final year of his deal, and while Palace chairman Steve Parish has expressed a strong desire to keep him, no agreement has been reached yet.
“We would love to keep Oliver,” Parish told Talksport.
“We’re building something. I think for Oliver it’s about the conditions being right.”
Glasner’s Impressive Palace Tenure
Glasner took charge in February 2024 and made an immediate impact, leading Palace to their first-ever major trophy by winning the FA Cup.
Despite qualifying for the Europa League, Palace were controversially relegated to the UEFA Conference League due to multi-club ownership regulations — linked to American investor John Textor’s involvement with both Palace and French side Lyon.
Palace bounced back with a Community Shield victory over Liverpool in August and are currently enjoying a strong Premier League campaign, sitting sixth in the table — just four points off the top.
Contract Offer & Conditions
According to BBC Sport sources, Glasner was offered a new deal earlier this summer, but has not signed. Talks continue as both sides seek to “align their interests.”
Parish noted that Glasner’s ambitions are clear:
“Oliver wants to win things. He makes no secret of that. That’s what he’s in football for.”
“If we can align those interests then hopefully we can make something happen.”
For Glasner, staying depends not just on financial terms, but also the club’s sporting direction, transfer strategy, and competitiveness at the highest level.
What’s Next?
As it stands:
-
Glasner remains committed to Palace this season but hasn’t guaranteed staying beyond summer 2025
-
The club wants continuity, especially with European football and a top-six Premier League push underway
-
Future negotiations are likely to revolve around sporting guarantees, project control, and ambition alignment
Crystal Palace fans will hope the club can convince Glasner to continue building on the momentum he has already created.
