Haliburton’s Last-Second Shot Stuns Thunder in Game 1

Last-Second Winner Puts Pacers Ahead in NBA Finals

Tyrese Haliburton delivered a clutch 21-foot jumper with 0.3 seconds remaining to lift the Indiana Pacers to a dramatic 111-110 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 1 of the 2025 NBA Finals.

The 25-year-old guard drove coast-to-coast after a missed attempt by NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in the final seconds, burying a shot that gave the Pacers their first lead of the night.

“It’s not the recipe to win,” Haliburton admitted after Indiana committed 25 turnovers, including 20 in the first half. “But come May and June, it doesn’t matter how you get them — just get them.”

Clutch Gene Activated

This marks the fourth time in the 2025 playoffs that Haliburton has hit a late-game shot to win or extend a game — showing once again his ability to perform under pressure.

“Some players say they have it, others show it,” said Myles Turner. “Tyrese wants that shot. He lives for that moment.”

Thunder Collapse After Strong Start

Despite leading by as many as 15 points in the fourth quarter and holding home court advantage, Oklahoma City failed to close out the game. Gilgeous-Alexander scored 38 points, but missed a critical two-point attempt with 12 seconds left.

Pascal Siakam led the Pacers with 19 points, while Obi Toppin added 17 off the bench. Indiana now leads the best-of-seven series 1-0.

“We played like we were trying to keep the lead instead of extending it,” said Thunder forward Jalen Williams.

Game 2 Information

Game two of the series will also be played in Oklahoma City and is scheduled for:

  • Sunday, 8 June – 19:00 local time

  • Monday, 9 June – 01:00 BST
