Lewandowski Doubt for El Clasico After Hamstring Injury
Lewandowski a Major Doubt for El Clasico Clash
Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski is facing a race against time to be fit for El Clasico later this month after suffering a hamstring injury.
The 37-year-old Polish international, who recently scored in a 2-0 win over Lithuania during World Cup qualifying, will miss this weekend’s La Liga fixture against Girona, and is also a doubt for the Champions League tie against Olympiakos on Tuesday.
The real concern for Barcelona fans is whether Lewandowski will be fit in time for El Clasico against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu on 26 October.
Four-Week Absence Feared
While Barcelona have not confirmed a recovery timeline, reports in Spanish media suggest the veteran forward could be out for up to four weeks.
“Robert Lewandowski has suffered a hamstring injury in his left thigh. He will be sidelined, and his recovery time will depend on how the injury progresses,” Barcelona said in a club statement.
Lewandowski has made nine appearances for the Catalan giants this season, scoring four goals. He remains a vital part of Xavi’s setup, especially with several other key players already missing.
Barcelona’s Growing Injury List
Lewandowski’s absence adds to a growing injury crisis for Barcelona. The following players are also unavailable:
-
Raphinha (hamstring)
-
Gavi (muscle fatigue)
-
Dani Olmo
-
Marc-Andre ter Stegen (back injury)
-
Joan Garcia
However, there is some relief for Xavi as Lamine Yamal and Fermin Lopez have returned to training and could feature in upcoming matches.
El Clasico Looms Large
Barcelona’s showdown with Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu is shaping up to be a critical clash in the La Liga title race.
With Lewandowski’s availability in doubt, Barcelona may need to rely more heavily on Joao Felix, Ferran Torres, or the returning Lamine Yamal to lead the line in attack.
