Marc Marquez Wins Czech GP as Brother Alex Crashes Out

Marc Marquez continued his dominance in MotoGP with a fifth consecutive Grand Prix victory, winning the Czech GP and extending his championship lead.

The 32-year-old, who also triumphed in Saturday’s sprint race, now holds a 120-point advantage in the standings over younger brother Alex Marquez, who endured a nightmare weekend after crashing during the race.

Alex collided with Joan Mir early on and, after a post-race review by stewards, was handed a long lap penalty to be served at the upcoming Austria GP.

A long lap penalty forces a rider to take an extended route on a designated section of the track, costing valuable seconds.

Race Recap: Marquez Takes Control

Two-time world champion Francesco Bagnaia started from pole position for the first time this season but quickly slipped to fourth after being overtaken by Marco Bezzecchi and Marc Marquez within the opening laps.

Bezzecchi led until lap eight, when Marquez made a decisive move to snatch first place and maintained his lead for the remainder of the 21-lap race.

Final Top 5 Finishers:

1️⃣ Marc Marquez

2️⃣ Marco Bezzecchi

3️⃣ Pedro Acosta

4️⃣ Francesco Bagnaia

5️⃣ Enea Bastianini

Drama for Alex Marquez & Jorge Martin’s Return

Alex Marquez’s collision with Mir saw him crash out and his penalty confirmed after stewards reviewed the footage.

Meanwhile, reigning champion Jorge Martin finished 7th in his first race since April. Martin suffered a string of injuries earlier this season, including a punctured lung and a fractured hand, but returned to action at the Czech GP.

What’s Next?

The MotoGP paddock heads into the summer break before racing resumes at the Austria GP, where Alex Marquez will serve his penalty and Marc Marquez looks to tighten his grip on the world title.
