Weather-Shortened Victory in Historic Style

The tournament was cut to 54 holes due to Storm Amy, which wiped out Saturday’s third round. Despite the disruption, MacIntyre’s 66 (-6) on Sunday was enough to pull clear of the field and secure his fourth European Tour title.

MacIntyre is the first Scot to win the Alfred Dunhill Links since Colin Montgomerie in 2005.

Fresh off his emotional Ryder Cup triumph at Bethpage Black, where he earned 1.5 points for Team Europe, the 29-year-old returned home to deliver another unforgettable performance.

“It’s brilliant. I don’t know how I’m going to celebrate after last Sunday, but we’ll try our best,” said MacIntyre.

“Sometimes when you least expect it, things happen.”

Fast Start Seals the Deal

MacIntyre teed off on Sunday knowing he needed to start strong – and he delivered:

  • Birdied the 1st hole

  • Reached -4 at the turn

  • Saved par with a stunning approach from the rough on 13

  • Dropped a shot on 17, missed birdie on 18, but held on

His composure down the stretch proved vital, especially as co-leader Richard Sterne faded with a quiet round.

Hatton Runner-Up, Scots Impress

Tyrrell Hatton, MacIntyre’s Ryder Cup teammate, put together a seven-under-par final round (-14 overall) to finish second, showing his class but unable to close the gap.

Scott Jamieson (-12) and Grant Forrest (-11) gave the home crowd even more to cheer about, while former Open champion Brooks Koepka finished tied for 10th at -10.

Fish & Chips, Minimal Prep, Maximum Reward

MacIntyre’s preparation was far from textbook:

“The diet has not been good this week – I’ve eaten plenty of takeaways, fish and chips, and others,” he joked.

“I only pitched up on Wednesday and had 12 holes.”

It’s the kind of laid-back charm that’s made him a fan favourite – and now a two-time Scottish winner on home soil after his 2024 Scottish Open triumph.

Final Thoughts

This win is more than a title – it’s a moment of Scottish golf history. MacIntyre, playing with flair, grit, and humility, has reignited home pride at one of the sport’s most iconic venues.

With the World Cup of Golf and Race to Dubai still to come, don’t be surprised if we see Bobby Mac lifting more silverware soon.
