Wolves Open to Selling Jorgen Strand Larsen Amid Forest Interest

Wolves Willing to Sell Jorgen Strand Larsen with Forest Interested

Wolves are prepared to part ways with Norwegian striker Jorgen Strand Larsen this January, with Nottingham Forest emerging as one of the clubs showing serious interest.

Despite being seen as a leader within the Wolves squad, the 25-year-old has struggled this season, netting just one Premier League goal — leading to growing criticism from fans. Wolves, rooted to the bottom of the table, are considering that offloading the forward may be the best decision for all parties if a suitable offer comes in.

Forest Eye Replacement for Injured Chris Wood

Forest’s interest in Strand Larsen is driven largely by the absence of last season’s top scorer Chris Wood, who has been sidelined with a long-term knee injury since October and underwent surgery in December. A clear return timeline remains uncertain.

In a further shake-up, Arnaud Kalimuendo, Forest’s £26m summer signing, has gone on loan to Eintracht Frankfurt, leaving just Igor Jesus and Taiwo Awoniyi as the club’s senior strikers.

While West Ham were previously keen, they withdrew after Wolves reportedly demanded £40m. The Hammers have since signed Valentin Castellanos and Pablo Felipe instead.

Newcastle United, who failed with a £55m bid in the summer, are no longer in the race, having signed Nick Woltemade. This leaves Forest in a strong position to make a move.

Contract Status and Future Uncertainty

Strand Larsen only made his move from Celta Vigo permanent last July for £23m and was handed a new five-year deal in September, following a 14-goal debut season that helped Wolves narrowly avoid relegation.

However, with Wolves now deep in the drop zone and having only registered their first win of the season in their 20th game — a 3-0 victory over West Ham — the club is facing the financial realities of a likely relegation.

Selling Strand Larsen in January could command a higher fee than waiting for the summer, when relegation could lower his value and interest.

Rob Edwards: ‘We’re Under No Pressure’

Manager Rob Edwards, speaking before their midweek clash against Everton, was tight-lipped on the Norwegian’s future:

“I haven’t said that [he’s staying]. There will be interest in a number of our players I would have thought, especially with the position we’re in… but we’re under no pressure to do anything if we don’t think it’s right for the club.”

While Joao Gomes has also been linked with Crystal Palace, Wolves are more reluctant to let the midfielder leave.

Still, with Strand Larsen starting the past three matches on the bench, and the club’s precarious position, all signs suggest that a winter exit is increasingly likely — and Forest could be his next destination.
