Wolves Sign Fer Lopez from Celta Vigo in £19m Deal

Wolverhampton Wanderers have completed their first signing of the summer transfer window, securing Spanish forward Fer Lopez from Celta Vigo for £19 million.

The 21-year-old left-footed attacker joins Wolves on a five-year contract, adding firepower to Vitor Pereira’s squad following the high-profile departures of Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri.

A Rising Star from La Liga

Lopez made his senior debut for Celta Vigo in October 2024 and netted four goals in 20 appearances during the 2024–25 La Liga season. His performances helped the Galician club secure a seventh-place finish, earning them a spot in European competition.

“It’s an amazing opportunity for my career to play in the Premier League and I’m very happy,” Lopez told Wolves’ official website.

“Vitor told me he thought I was a good fit for the squad. When it’s a club like this, you have little to think about.”

English Roots and Premier League Dreams

Lopez briefly attended school in Suffolk in 2018 and trained with Norwich City’s academy before returning to Spain to join Celta’s youth setup at the age of 10.

Now, he returns to England with top-flight ambitions.

“I played at the Bernabeu, Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid. Now I want to do the same in England,” said Lopez.

“You dream of atmospheres like these, and I want to enjoy it with Wolves fans.”

Strategic Summer Rebuild at Wolves

Lopez’s signing comes as part of Wolves’ rebuild under Pereira:

  • Matheus Cunha sold to Manchester United for £62.5m

  • Rayan Ait-Nouri joined Manchester City for £31m

With Lopez’s arrival, Wolves are aiming to reinvest wisely in young talent capable of adapting quickly to the Premier League’s demands.
