Savinho Signs Manchester City Contract Extension Until 2031

Manchester City have secured the long-term future of Brazilian winger Savinho, who has signed a two-year contract extension that will keep him at the club until summer 2031.

The 21-year-old joined City from sister club Troyes for £30.8m in 2024, and has since become a promising part of Pep Guardiola’s squad, making 54 appearances with four goals and 12 assists to his name.

“I am incredibly proud to be able to sign this new contract with City,” said Savinho.

“It’s a very special feeling to know that Pep and the club have placed such faith in me. It really means a lot to me and my family.”

Guardiola Sees “Top-Class” Future for Savinho

Manager Pep Guardiola has repeatedly praised the young winger’s potential, stating that Savinho is poised to become a “top-class player” for the club.

“Savinho created a lot last season, but in the final third, he was a little too hectic,” said Guardiola.

“But the moment he learns that, he’ll make the step naturally. He can play both sides, has speed and work ethic — he will be a top player for Man City.”

Despite interest from Tottenham Hotspur during the summer transfer window, Manchester City made it clear the Brazilian was not for sale.

Developing Under City’s System

The former PSV Eindhoven and Girona player expressed his gratitude and ambition to keep developing under Guardiola:

“I feel I have so much improving to do — I am still young and hungry to keep learning. I know working with Pep and his staff will help me keep developing as a player.”

Director of Football Hugo Viana: “He Will Be Outstanding”

City’s Director of Football Hugo Viana echoed Guardiola’s confidence in Savinho’s development:

“Savinho is still very young, but he has already demonstrated the qualities needed to become a truly outstanding player.”

The winger has also earned 13 caps for Brazil, scoring one international goal, further solidifying his rising global profile.

Building for the Future

Savinho’s new deal follows other long-term extensions for fellow City talents:

  • Nico O’Reilly – Midfielder

  • Rico Lewis – Full-back

These moves underline Manchester City’s commitment to retaining and developing young talent as part of their long-term project.
