Yves Bissouma Dropped by Spurs for Persistent Lateness Ahead of PSG Clash
Bissouma Left Out of Tottenham Squad for PSG Super Cup Tie
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma has been dropped from the squad to face Paris Saint-Germain in the Uefa Super Cup due to repeated lateness.
The 27-year-old did not travel with the team to Udine, Italy, for Wednesday night’s showdown against Luis Enrique’s PSG.
Frank: ‘There Have to Be Consequences’
Manager Thomas Frank confirmed Bissouma’s absence was for disciplinary reasons, revealing the midfielder had been late on multiple occasions.
“Bissouma isn’t here because of disciplinary reasons. He has been late several times, the latest one too many,” Frank said.
“We need to give love and have demands but there have to be consequences. There’s been a consequence, we will follow it up when we get home and park it for now.”
Focus Turns to PSG Challenge
Looking ahead to the Super Cup clash, Frank stressed the importance of structure and principles in Spurs’ game plan.
“I am a big believer of principles and structures in the team, offensively and defensively,” he explained.
“We want to control the game in the build-up phases and be ruthless in the final third. For the club, me and everyone involved at Tottenham, it’s a massive game – a great challenge and an even bigger opportunity.”
Spurs face PSG seeking their first Super Cup title, with Frank keen to frame the tie as an opportunity rather than pressure.
