Strand Larsen Hat-Trick Powers Wolves to 6-1 FA Cup Win
Strand Larsen Hat-Trick Helps Wolves Cruise Past Shrewsbury 6-1 in FA Cup Rout
Jorgen Strand Larsen scored a sensational hat-trick to lead Wolves to a commanding 6-1 win over League Two side Shrewsbury in the FA Cup third round. The Norwegian striker ended a 13-game goal drought in style as Rob Edwards’ men delivered their best performance of the season.
Larsen opened the scoring in the 9th minute with a smart flick before Jhon Arias added a second shortly after. Though Arias conceded a penalty to allow John Marquis to pull one back for the visitors, Wolves quickly restored their dominance.
A major error from Shrewsbury keeper Elyh Harrison gifted Larsen his second, as the striker coolly finished into an empty net from 30 yards. The hat-trick was completed when he stroked home Arias’ assist in the second half.
Late goals from Rodrigo Gomes and Tolu Arokodare added polish to the result, as Wolves secured their fourth unbeaten game in a row—following a nightmare run of 12 straight defeats across all competitions.
Larsen Redemption at Molineux
Wolves fans had questioned Larsen’s commitment after a move to Newcastle failed in the summer. But the 25-year-old, who joined from Celta Vigo in 2024, answered his critics with a much-needed treble, taking his season tally to six.
Manager Rob Edwards praised Larsen’s attitude and urged supporters to back players during tough spells. Though Wolves are open to selling the forward this month, the FA Cup heroics might just be the turning point both for Larsen and the club.
