Everton Close in on £40m Deal for Southampton’s Tyler Dibling
Everton are closing in on the signing of Tyler Dibling from Southampton in a deal worth around £40m.
The England Under-21 international, 19, has been the subject of three failed bids from the Toffees this summer, but talks have now restarted and are moving towards an agreement.
Dibling made 33 appearances for Southampton last season, scoring twice, and has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs thanks to his energy, versatility, and attacking threat from midfield.
Moyes: “Difficult to Spend Money”
Everton have already spent £75m on six players, as well as bringing in Jack Grealish on loan from Manchester City, but manager David Moyes admitted on Friday that the club has struggled to get deals over the line.
“We have money to spend and we are trying to spend it,” Moyes said.
“It is not that we don’t have the money to spend, we do have, but we’re finding it very difficult to spend the money at the moment.”
Despite those difficulties, Everton are determined to add Dibling before the 1 September deadline.
Dibling’s Southampton Situation
The teenager was a late substitute in Southampton’s 1-1 draw at Ipswich last weekend, but his future remains uncertain.
Southampton are reluctant to lose one of their brightest young talents, though Everton’s persistence — and financial power — appears to be edging the deal closer to completion.
If confirmed, Dibling would become Everton’s seventh summer signing and one of the most expensive teenagers in Premier League history.
