Fleetwood’s PGA Title Hopes Crushed as Bradley Triumphs

Heartbreak for Fleetwood as Bradley Clinches Travelers Championship in Dramatic Finale

England’s Tommy Fleetwood was denied his elusive first PGA Tour victory in gut-wrenching fashion as Keegan Bradley produced a clutch finish to win the 2025 Travelers Championship by a single stroke.

Fleetwood, 34, appeared poised to break his winless streak after building a two-shot lead with just three holes to play. However, late mistakes, including a crucial bogey on the 18th, opened the door for Bradley — and the American seized the moment with a birdie to seal a one-shot victory at 15 under par.

“I’m gutted right now… it’s probably the worst way to finish,” Fleetwood said after the round.

Final Leaderboard Highlights – Travelers Championship

  • -15 Keegan Bradley (USA)

  • -14 Tommy Fleetwood (ENG), Russell Henley (USA)

  • -13 Harris English (USA), Jason Day (AUS)

  • -12 Rory McIlroy (NIR), Scottie Scheffler (USA)

  • -6 Aaron Rai (ENG), Matt Fitzpatrick (ENG), Robert MacIntyre (SCO)

  • E Shane Lowry (IRE)

Fleetwood Falls Short — Again

Fleetwood’s final round was a rollercoaster. A nervy start saw him make three bogeys in his first four holes, but he regained control with back-to-back birdies on the 11th and 13th, restoring a two-shot cushion.

Bradley appeared to be fading after a bogey at 14, but drained a spectacular 35-foot birdie putt on 15 and then dialed in his approach at 18 to within five feet.

When Fleetwood missed his par attempt on the last, it gave Bradley the blueprint. The 2011 PGA Championship winner held his nerve, drained his birdie putt, and completed a two-under 68 to take the title.

Another Agonizing Runner-Up for Fleetwood

This marks Fleetwood’s 42nd top-10 finish and yet another second place on the PGA Tour. His near-misses have become a familiar tale — with previous runner-up finishes at majors and the Olympics.

“Leading by two with three to play… and you don’t even make it to a play-off. It’s the worst way it could go,” he reflected.

What Bradley’s Win Means

Bradley, 39, is set to captain Team USA at the 2025 Ryder Cup in New York. But his performance at TPC River Highlands has sparked debate over whether he should still be playing rather than leading.

“It puts a big question mark on whether Bradley should be a player-captain,” said one analyst.
