Fulham Defeat Spurs to Strengthen European Push

Fulham boosted their European qualification hopes with a 2-0 victory over Tottenham, marking their second consecutive home league win against Spurs—a feat they last achieved 19 years ago.

Late Goals Secure Fulham’s Victory

In a cagey London derby, chances were few and far between for both sides. Timothy Castagne registered the only shot on target in the first half, while Ben Davies produced Tottenham’s first effort on goal in the 65th minute.

Spurs looked the more likely to break the deadlock as the second half progressed, but Dominic Solanke wasted three key opportunities, including a close-range miss at an open goal.

However, Rodrigo Muniz—who scored twice in Fulham’s 3-0 win over Spurs last season—proved the difference once again. The substitute calmly slotted home in the 75th minute, giving Fulham a deserved lead.

As Tottenham pressed for an equalizer, they left space at the back, allowing Ryan Sessegnon to seal the win with a composed finish against his former club.

The victory moves Fulham up to eighth in the Premier League, just four points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, while Tottenham remain in 13th, enduring another frustrating weekend under Ange Postecoglou.

Fulham Eye Historic Premier League Finish

Despite a lackluster opening 75 minutes, Fulham capitalized on their pressing and high-energy play, with Muniz’s opener shifting the game’s momentum.

Sessegnon’s late strike capped off an impressive finish, securing a win that strengthens Fulham’s push for a historic Premier League finish. The Cottagers have never placed higher than seventh in the top flight (2008-09 season), but with nine games remaining, they are firmly in contention for European football in 2025-26.

Tottenham’s Struggles Continue

After their Europa League quarter-final qualification on Thursday, Tottenham failed to carry that momentum into the Premier League, looking sluggish at Craven Cottage.

Postecoglou’s rotation policy is under scrutiny, with Son Heung-min and James Maddison again starting on the bench. While Son made an impact as a second-half substitute in Spurs’ previous match, his introduction alongside Lucas Bergvall this time failed to change the outcome.

Dominic Solanke, starting his second straight league game since returning from injury, struggled to provide the clinical edge Spurs desperately needed.

With Tottenham now in danger of finishing outside the top 10 for the first time in 17 years, Postecoglou faces mounting pressure to turn things around in the league.
