Grant Forrest Wins Nexo Championship, Receives Call from Donald Trump

Forrest Clinches Four-Shot Victory in Scotland

Scotland’s Grant Forrest sealed a commanding four-shot win at the Nexo Championship at Trump International Golf Links, Balmedie. The 32-year-old handled windy weekend conditions superbly, finishing eight under par despite a closing double bogey on the 18th.

Trump Hails ‘Brilliant Golf’ in Video Call

After lifting the trophy, Forrest received a surprise video call from Donald Trump, who was playing golf at the time.

“Your name’s going to be on the board for a long time, Grant,” Trump said in the call posted by the DP World Tour. “We all watched you play… What three rounds of brilliant golf.”Trump even joked about playing with Forrest the next day if he could “get on a plane”.

Turning Point on the Front Nine

Forrest’s overnight three-shot lead was briefly cut to two when Todd Clements birdied the opening hole. But the match swung decisively at the fourth — Forrest birdied while Clements carded a triple-bogey eight, giving the Scot a five-shot cushion he never surrendered.

The world No. 294 closed with a 72, adding two birdies and one bogey to secure his second DP World Tour title, almost four years to the week since his first win at St Andrews.

Emotional Victory After Tough Season

“It’s amazing, just speechless,” said Forrest. “It’s been such a tough year on the golf course. This game is crazy — one week can turn everything around, and it has.”
