Grealish Inspires Everton to Opening Win at Stunning New Stadium

Everton made a dream start at their new Hill Dickinson Stadium, celebrating a historic move from Goodison Park with a 2-0 victory over Brighton. And it was Jack Grealish who stole the spotlight on his debut, reminding fans of his brilliance with two key assists.

A New Era Begins

Thousands of supporters marched from Liverpool’s Pier Head to the state-of-the-art new ground, marking the beginning of a new chapter after 133 years at Goodison Park. The atmosphere was electric, with pre-match pyrotechnics setting the tone for a landmark occasion.

Grealish Back to His Best

On loan from Manchester City, Grealish thrived in front of over 50,000 fans. He created the opener after 23 minutes, driving into the box and crossing for Iliman Ndiaye, who calmly converted.

The 29-year-old then set up James Garner for a stunning long-range strike, equalling his assist tally from the past two seasons at City in just one half. He also impressed defensively, leading Everton in ball recoveries (7) and sharing top spot for tackles (3).

Grealish nearly added a third assist late on, only for Dwight McNeil to miss a golden chance. Subbed off in stoppage time to a standing ovation, Grealish looked visibly rejuvenated.

“Brilliant day. We wanted to put on a show for the fans, and it was the perfect way to start this new era,” Grealish told BBC Sport.

Moyes: “Written in the Stars”

Everton manager David Moyes, back for his second spell, hailed the performance:

“That’s what we’ve been waiting for. Jack and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall gave us quality. It felt written in the stars to lead this team into a new home.”

With the sun shining and fans celebrating around their new ground, the result was the perfect tonic after last week’s defeat at Leeds.

A Historic Start

This was more than just three points. It was a symbolic fresh start for Everton and for Grealish, once sidelined at Manchester City but now central to a side hungry for revival.
