Tuchel: Fans Must Be Patient in England vs Andorra Clash
Fans Must Not ‘Over Expect’ Before Andorra Match – Tuchel
England manager Thomas Tuchel has urged supporters to show patience and not “over expect” when the Three Lions face 173rd-ranked Andorra in Saturday’s World Cup qualifier at the RCDE Stadium in Barcelona.
It will be just Tuchel’s third match in charge of England, who currently top Group K after wins against Albania and Latvia in March. Despite being heavy favourites, Tuchel warned that Andorra could prove stubborn opposition.
“It will be on us to get going. It is on us to keep the tempo high, to bring the energy and attacking intent to the pitch in a relentless way,” said Tuchel.
He acknowledged that his players are coming off a long and demanding season but praised their commitment and spirit during the international break:
“They are happy to be here, happy to show.”
“Respect Your Opponent”
The German coach cautioned against early frustration if goals don’t come quickly. Citing Spain’s recent narrow half-time lead over Andorra, Tuchel stressed the importance of patience.
“It is also important not to over expect from us… not to expect a clear result and goals after 10 or 20 minutes. This is a test of our patience.”
“When Andorra played against Spain it was 1-0 at half-time from a set-piece. We expect a 5-4-1 formation that defends 22 to 25 metres in front of goal.”
Tuchel emphasized the importance of respecting Andorra’s structure and being prepared for a compact and organized defensive block.
Clarity and Control Key for England
Tuchel highlighted that his squad must focus on the details, control their energy, and maintain mental discipline:
“I hope we are clear enough to the players in what we demand in details. If we do that, the result will hopefully follow.”
With England heavily favoured to win, the match provides an opportunity for Tuchel to further implement his style and maintain momentum in the group.
