Fury Targets Joshua Fight After Comeback

Tyson Fury has reignited talk of a long-awaited showdown with Anthony Joshua, confirming he wants the all-British heavyweight clash following his comeback fight this weekend.

The 37-year-old returns to the ring after 16 months to face Arslanbek Makhmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, marking his latest comeback after a fifth retirement.

Super-Fight Back on the Agenda

Despite focusing on Saturday’s bout, Fury made it clear that Joshua is his preferred next opponent:

“All going well, [Joshua is] the fight I want next.”

A potential clash between the two British heavyweights has eluded boxing fans for years, but renewed momentum suggests 2026 could finally deliver the blockbuster fight.

Comeback With Risk

Fury faces a dangerous opponent in Makhmudov, known for his explosive knockout power, with 19 wins inside the first three rounds.

The former world champion acknowledged the threat:

“I’ve got a stone-cold killer in this man who could put me out in one shot.”

The fight represents a crucial test for Fury following consecutive defeats to Oleksandr Usyk.

Meanwhile, Joshua — who last fought in December against Jake Paul — is expected to be ringside for Fury’s comeback.

Promoter Eddie Hearn has indicated the former champion is close to resuming full training after a difficult period following a car accident in Nigeria.

Late But Still Massive

Although both fighters are now in the latter stages of their careers, the commercial appeal of a Fury-Joshua bout remains enormous.

For many fans, however, the timing raises questions about whether the fight comes too late to match its original hype.

Still, Fury appears unconcerned:

“A fight’s a fight… I’ll be ready for that straight away after this.”
