Wrexham AFC have completed the signing of England international Conor Coady from Championship rivals Leicester City for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £2m.
The 32-year-old centre-back has penned a two-year deal at the Racecourse Ground, with an option for a further year.
A Major Statement of Intent
The signing is the latest ambitious move from Phil Parkinson’s side as they prepare for their first season back in the second tier of English football in 43 years.
Wrexham have already broken their transfer record twice this summer — first with the signing of Liberato Cacace from Empoli, and then Lewis O’Brien from Nottingham Forest.
The club are also in talks over a £7.5m move for Wales forward Nathan Broadhead from Ipswich Town and hope to land striker Kieffer Moore from Sheffield United.
Coady Excited for New Challenge
“I’m over the moon. It’s a special day, I’ll be honest,” said Coady.
“We’ve all seen what the club has done over the past few years and for me to join is really special. I can’t wait to meet the boys and get started.”
Coady brings a wealth of top-flight experience, having made 198 Premier League appearances and captained Wolverhampton Wanderers to two consecutive 7th-place finishes and a Europa League quarter-final.
The defender has also earned 10 caps for England, featuring in the squads for Euro 2020 and the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson hailed the signing:
“We’re delighted to welcome Conor to the club. He’s a player with Premier League and Championship experience who will be a great addition to the squad.”

Age: 32
