Alcaraz to Face Sinner in Monte Carlo Final
Carlos Alcaraz will take on Jannik Sinner in a blockbuster Monte Carlo Masters final, with the world number one ranking on the line.
Defending champion Alcaraz advanced to Sunday’s final after a straight-sets victory over home favourite Valentin Vacherot, winning 6-4 6-4 in a composed performance. Meanwhile, second seed Sinner delivered a dominant display to defeat third seed Alexander Zverev 6-1 6-4.
Sinner’s victory continues a remarkable run of form, as the Italian extends his Masters 1000 winning streak to 21 matches. The world number two has already claimed titles at Indian Wells and Miami this season and now becomes the first player since Novak Djokovic in 2015 to reach the first three Masters 1000 finals of a calendar year.
Against Zverev, Sinner was in complete control, converting all four break points he created while not facing a single break point on his own serve. The match lasted just 82 minutes, underlining his current dominance on tour.
Alcaraz, the current world number one, also impressed in his semi-final, taking 84 minutes to overcome Vacherot. The Spaniard converted three of his four break-point opportunities and showed strong composure against a player backed by the home crowd.
The final will mark the first meeting between Alcaraz and Sinner in 2026, with their rivalry already one of the defining matchups in modern tennis. Alcaraz currently leads their head-to-head 10-6, although Sinner won their most recent encounter in the ATP Finals last November.
Beyond the title, the stakes are even higher, as the winner will leave Monte Carlo as the new world number one.
Alcaraz is chasing his second consecutive Monte Carlo crown and a third title of the season, while Sinner is aiming to cap his dominant start to the year with his maiden title at the prestigious clay-court event.
With both players in top form, the final promises to be one of the standout matches of the season.
