Casemiro’s influence – and looming exit

The Brazilian, however, is expected to leave at the end of the season, with manager Michael Carrick acknowledging his departure is “pretty clear from both sides.”

“He has huge experience and given everything you can possibly give. But it’s football. Players come and go,” Carrick said.

Replacing Casemiro is now viewed as United’s top priority this summer.

Midfield rebuild at the centre of plans

Nottingham Forest’s Elliott Anderson is understood to be a leading target, though United are determined not to overspend and will move on if valuations exceed their internal limits.

The club’s recruitment strategy is shifting toward flexibility, avoiding drawn-out negotiations and instead maintaining multiple options for each position.

This marks a clear change from previous transfer windows, where long pursuits often ended unsuccessfully.

Squad evolution and depth issues

United also believe the squad needs significant expansion to handle an increasingly demanding schedule.
