Hannah Green wins JM Eagle LA Championship in playoff thriller
Australian golfer Hannah Green continued her dominant start to the 2026 season by winning the JM Eagle LA Championship after a dramatic playoff finish in Los Angeles.
Green defeated South Korea’s Sei-young Kim and Jin-hee Im after all three finished tied at 17-under par in regulation play. She secured victory on the first playoff hole with a composed 12-foot birdie putt.
Final leaderboard (top positions)
- -17: Hannah Green (AUS), Sei-young Kim (KOR), Jin-hee Im (KOR)
- -16: Hyo-joo Yoon (KOR)
- -14: Patty Tavatanakit (THA)
- -12: Miyu Katsu (JPN)
- -9: Jennifer Kupcho (USA)
- -6: Jodi Ewart Shadoff (ENG)
Dramatic turnaround in final round
Green looked out of contention after briefly trailing by six shots when Kim holed an eagle on the 11th hole. However, the Australian responded immediately, producing five birdies in six holes to force her way back into contention.
Kim missed a crucial long birdie attempt late on, while Im also failed to capitalize after a costly tee shot and a slow-play penalty earlier in the tournament.
Fourth title of the year for Green
This victory marks Green’s fourth win of 2026, following an exceptional run that includes major titles in Australia and a World Championship win earlier this season.
Green, who won her only major at the Women’s PGA Championship in 2019, said she never expected to recover during the final round:
“I didn’t think I was still in the tournament,” she admitted after the win.
On the decisive putt, she added that a similar line earlier in regulation gave her confidence in the playoff.
Big prize purse and course change
The event was held at El Caballero Golf Club due to renovations at Wilshire Country Club, where Green previously won in 2023 and 2024.
Prize money was also increased by $1 million during the tournament, lifting the total purse to $4.75 million, with Green earning $712,500.
Focus shifts to first women’s major
Attention now turns to the Chevron Championship, the first women’s major of the season, which begins Thursday in Houston, Texas. Chevron Championship
