Mbappe Doubt for El Clasico After Hamstring Injury Blow

Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe is a major doubt for next month’s El Clasico clash against Barcelona after suffering a hamstring injury.

The France captain was substituted in the 81st minute during Real Madrid’s 1-1 La Liga draw with Real Betis on Friday.

In an official statement, Real Madrid confirmed Mbappe had been diagnosed with an injury to the semitendinosus muscle in his left leg and remains under medical observation.

El Clasico Concern for Real Madrid

Real Madrid are set to face Espanyol on Sunday before travelling to the Camp Nou to take on Barcelona on 10 May.

With only five league games remaining, Carlo Ancelotti’s side sit 11 points behind the Catalan leaders and can ill afford to lose their top scorer during the title run-in.

Trophyless Season Threat Looms

Real Madrid were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League by Bayern Munich last week and now face the possibility of ending the season without silverware.

Mbappe has been one of the standout performers in his debut campaign, scoring 24 goals in 28 La Liga appearances and adding 15 goals in 11 Champions League matches.

The 27-year-old also missed nearly a month earlier this year because of a knee injury, raising fresh concerns over his fitness ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which begins on 11 June.

Huge Blow if Ruled Out

Mbappe’s absence for El Clasico would be a massive setback for Real Madrid as they attempt to close the gap on Barcelona in one of world football’s biggest fixtures.
