Fitzpatrick Leads RBC Heritage After Brilliant 63

Matt Fitzpatrick delivered a stunning bogey-free 63 to take a one-shot lead after the second round of the RBC Heritage in South Carolina.

The former US Open champion moved to 14-under par, edging ahead of Viktor Hovland, who sits just one shot back at 13-under following another composed performance.

Fitzpatrick Thrives in Tough Conditions

Played in sweltering heat and unpredictable winds, the second round tested the entire field — but Fitzpatrick remained flawless.

His round included a moment of fortune at the par-three 14th:

  • Tee shot veered towards trees
  • Ball ricocheted off a cart path
  • Landed safely on the green
  • Stopped just short of water thanks to a sprinkler

The Englishman made full use of the break, draining a 30-foot putt for birdie.

“Sometimes you need that in a week… and it’s nice to take advantage,” Fitzpatrick admitted.

He finished strongly with two more birdies in his final three holes, securing the outright lead.

Hovland Keeps Pressure On

Hovland remains firmly in contention after a disciplined round, highlighted by a crucial birdie on the 17th.

“I kept the ball in front of me — that’s key on this course,” said the Norwegian.

Big Names in the Chase Pack

Meanwhile, Jordan Spieth struggled with three double bogeys in a frustrating round of 72.
